Q. How long will the coating last?
A. EquipCoat® will last 3 to 5 years on painted metal and 1-2 years on plastic and fiberglass.
Q. Is this the same clear coat used on vehicles?
A. No, a vehicle clear coat is a clear lacquer paint that is usually mixed with a catalyst. EquipCoat® is a single part coating that doesn’t require mixing. Unlike an automotive clear coat, EquipCoat® will not peel off or flake.
Q. Can we use an automatic bus washing system to wash EquipCoat® coated buses?
A. Yes. Also, when washing buses manually, use a detergent that is safe for automotive paint finishes. Avoid solvent or citrus-based cleaners.
Q. How much EquipCoat® will I need to coat a Type C “conventional” 65 passenger school bus?
A. Using an automotive spray gun, 2-3 quarts when coating a complete bus, including the roof, sides, front, back, bumpers, and rims.
Q. How do I remove graffiti on a coated bus?
A. Graffiti can easily be removed from EquipCoat® with Xylene or lacquer thinner. You can recoat the area with EquipCoat® using a spray gun, EquipCoat® aerosol, or microfiber paint roller. *Caution please refer to manufacturer instructions when using Xylene or lacquer thinner.
Q. How soon after applying EquipCoat® can we put the bus back in service?
A. Under dry and warm conditions (60°F and above) 1-2 hours. EquipCoat® dries to touch in approximately 10 minutes. If the bus is to be driven on salted roads, then 24 hours under warm conditions is recommended.
